The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced that its 55th Annual Education Conference will be held from July 22 to 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in New Orleans.
Founded in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, APRI is an organization of Black trade unionists focused on promoting racial equality and economic justice. The group continues the work begun by its founders to support the rights of working Americans.
A. Philip Randolph was also known for founding the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925. This union led Pullman porters in efforts against low wages and racial discrimination, achieving union recognition in 1935. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged into what is now called the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), which continues to uphold Randolph’s vision of organized labor as a means for dignity and equality.
According to APRI, “This annual conference brings together labor leaders, activists, and members from across the country to learn, share experiences, and mobilize around the critical issues facing working people today.”
Participants at the conference can expect training programs and educational workshops designed to build leadership skills and advance both racial and economic justice within communities and workplaces. The event also offers opportunities for networking with other union members and allies, engaging with expert speakers, and learning practical strategies for use in their own organizations.
“Attendees will also have opportunities to connect with fellow union members and allies, engage with expert speakers, and gain practical strategies to take home and put into action,” APRI stated.
Details regarding hotel reservations are available online. Further information about registration will be released soon. A tentative agenda for this year’s conference can be downloaded as a PDF.
