Amazon has reported significant improvements in workplace safety across its U.S. network, including sites in New York. The company announced a 34% reduction in recordable injuries and a 65% decline in lost time incidents, based on its 2024 safety performance data.
According to Amazon’s 2024 workplace safety report, there was a 6% annual improvement in the Recordable Incident Rate and a 13% drop in the Lost Time Incident Rate compared to the previous year. These statistics indicate a five-year decrease of 34% and 65%, respectively. The company attributes these improvements to safety-focused investments at over 2,500 operational sites worldwide.
Amazon received several national safety awards in 2024 for innovations developed by its workforce. The National Safety Council and Verdantix recognized the company’s efforts, highlighting tools such as AI-supported trailer sensors and ergonomic picking systems as examples of employee-led safety solutions.
