Bill Cosby has sold his Upper East Side townhouse for $28 million, according to a report from the New York Post. The property at 18 East 71st Street changed hands less than two months after it was listed, selling for just $1 million below its $29 million asking price.

The buyer’s identity has not been disclosed. Realtor.com first reported the deal, which values the seven-story residence at approximately $2,154 per square foot.

Cosby listed the home in September, following allegations from First Foundation Bank that he had defaulted on a $17.5 million loan secured by the property. The bank also claimed Cosby owed more than $300,000 in property taxes. The sale brings an end to foreclosure proceedings initiated against him.

Cosby and his wife Camille purchased the limestone mansion in 1990 for $6.3 million. Known as the Luyster Mansion, it was built in 1899 and features original details such as mahogany floors and an elevator serving nearly every level. The six-bedroom house includes a dining room that seats 30 people, multiple suites, a roof garden, and a parlor level designed for entertaining guests.

Adam Schneider of Corcoran handled the listing; this marks the first time in over three decades that the property has been on the market.

Earlier this year, Cosby put another townhouse up for sale at 243 East 61st Street—a four-story building once used by his late son Ennis—with an initial asking price of $7 million later reduced to $6.75 million. CitiMortgage has accused Cosby and his wife of defaulting on a $4.2 million loan tied to that home and is also pursuing foreclosure there.

Although Cosby’s sexual assault conviction was overturned in 2021, he continues to face legal claims, including one filed in January alleging drugging and sexual assault of a minor in Las Vegas during the 1980s.

The couple primarily resides outside Philadelphia, where they bought a suburban estate for $225,000 before “The Cosby Show” raised Bill Cosby’s public profile.
