The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has released the 30th episode of its bi-weekly podcast, “DEC Does What?!”. This episode, titled “Join Team DEC,” focuses on the work of DEC’s personnel staff and their efforts to support nearly 3,400 employees and recruit new environmentalists, scientists, attorneys, and administrative staff.
Hosts Sean Mahar, DEC Region 4 Director, and Erica Ringewald, Chief of Staff, are joined by Alan Ilagan, Associate Director of Human Resources, and Natalie Joseph, Human Resources Specialist from DEC’s Division of Human Resources. The discussion covers recruiting efforts across New York State regions, current exam announcements for Environmental Conservation Police Officers and Forest Rangers, and guidance on how candidates can find job opportunities through the State’s Civil Service system.
According to the episode: “Natalie and Alan explain the many benefits that come with working for DEC, how the NY HELPS program enabled DEC to hire more than 350 new employees and promote another 60 during the last year, and how their own personal career path led them to working for the agency.”
