Representatives from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Town of Oyster Bay will hold a press conference to provide an update on efforts to address contamination at the former Grumman settling ponds in Bethpage, New York. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage Community Park.

According to officials, the announcement will focus on recent progress in protecting local drinking water supplies and removing pollution from deep soil at the site. Community leaders are expected to join DEC representatives during the briefing.

The site has been a concern for residents due to its history of industrial activity and resulting environmental impacts. Efforts have been ongoing to address groundwater and soil contamination stemming from past operations.
