Wall Street executive Ed Hajim is scheduled to speak at Stony Brook University, where he will also host a book signing for his works, “On the Road Less Traveled: An Unlikely Journey from the Orphanage to the Boardroom” and “The Island of the Four Ps: A Modern Fable About Preparing for Your Future.” The event will take place on Friday, October 10, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in Student Activities Center Ballroom A. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend and refreshments will be provided. Attendees can RSVP through an online form.
Hajim has held senior management roles including chairman and CEO at companies such as ING Aeltus Group and MLH Capital. He currently serves as Chairman of High Vista, a money management firm based in Boston. With over five decades of experience in investment management, Hajim’s personal background includes being the son of a Syrian immigrant. He experienced a difficult childhood that included being kidnapped by his father at age three and spending several years in an orphanage.
His book “On the Road Less Traveled” discusses challenges he faced throughout his life and career. In it, Hajim writes: “I realized that my childhood seemed to give me a foundation for recognizing the need for balance between self, family, work and community.”
Hajim is also active in philanthropy through the Hajim Family Foundation. In 2015, he received the Horatio Alger Award from the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., which described it as an honor “bestowed upon exceptional leaders who have triumphed over adversity to achieve greatness.”
The event is organized by Stony Brook University’s Office of DI3 and Career Center.
