Union members from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) in Florida convened in Tallahassee for a five-day legislative conference. The event brought together active members and retirees to meet with state legislators, focusing on labor rights, wage improvements, and the protection of pensions and Social Security.
During the conference, leaders and activists highlighted their opposition to legislation that could undermine union influence. “Leaders and activists emphasize the importance of opposing anti-union legislation that threatens the collective bargaining power and financial stability of the working class,” according to statements from those involved.
The group’s efforts included direct engagement with lawmakers, aiming to represent machinists throughout Florida—from regions such as the Kennedy Space Center area to South Florida and the Panhandle. The central objective was to shape policies supporting union workers’ interests while preparing for political activities related to the 2026 midterm elections.
