FoodLab at Stony Brook Southampton is set to host its next “Tea Talk Tuesday” event on November 4, featuring Paula Montagna, a registered dietitian from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. The session will focus on practical nutrition and the concept of “food as medicine.”

Montagna brings extensive clinical and community experience to her work, with a background that includes participation in the Mediterranean Diet Roundtable. She emphasizes using a Mediterranean-inspired approach to nutrition for both patient care and public education.

The event will be held from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Carriage House/Technology Center at Stony Brook Southampton. It is free and open to the public.

“Tea Talk Tuesday is FoodLab’s monthly gathering where Stony Brook experts and community practitioners meet neighbors over a cup of tea to explore timely topics in food, health, and sustainability. The series alternates between Stony Brook University faculty and community members, reflecting FoodLab’s mission to link research, education, and hands-on practice so that science becomes solutions — on the plate, in clinics, and across our regional food system.”

Judiann Carmack-Fayyaz, Executive Director of FoodLab, said: “We built Tea Talk Tuesday on a simple idea: the community is our classroom. With a cup of tea, you can slow down, connect with neighbors, and learn, side by side with Stony Brook experts and local voices.”

Local small businesses will have an opportunity to engage with attendees through vendor pop-ups before and after the talk. Harney & Sons Fine Teas is sponsoring the tea service.

For more information about this event or future sessions in the series, interested individuals can visit the FoodLab website or contact judiann.carmack-fayyaz@stonybrook.edu.
