Giorgio Armani, the renowned Italian designer, has died at 91. While widely recognized for his influence on global fashion, Armani also left a significant mark on real estate through personal properties and branded developments.

Armani’s private portfolio included luxury homes in several locations. In Milan, he kept an apartment but often retreated to Pantelleria, where he owned seven homes, including Cala Gadir acquired in 1979. His international holdings extended to Saint Tropez—where Vogue Australia visited his home in 2015—and Antigua in the Caribbean. On Antigua, Armani purchased two villas named Villa Flower and Villa Serena in 2006, each featuring amenities such as swimming pools and interiors designed by Armani Casa.

In the United States, Armani bought a Central Park West condominium from former T-Mobile CEO John Legere for $19.5 million in 2019, according to The Wall Street Journal. This residence was located on the same floor as another unit already owned by Armani and had previously belonged to William Randolph Hearst.

The commercial presence of the Armani brand is also substantial. As of March this year, there were nearly 200 Armani stores across the U.S., with California hosting 37 locations and New York City home to 15 stores (https://www.scrapehero.com/location-reports/Armani-USA/).

Armani’s involvement in real estate development is notable as well. The Giorgio Armani Residences at 760 Madison Avenue in Manhattan have been among the city’s top-performing luxury buildings since sales began in summer 2023; all units quickly sold out at prices averaging just under $5,000 per square foot. Building amenities include a fitness center, landscaped terrace, and residents’ lounge.

In South Florida, sales recently launched for the Armani/Casa Residences Pompano Beach project led by Vertical Developments and partners—a second condo venture for the brand in that region.

Internationally, plans were announced last month for new branded residences under the Armani name in Ras Al Khaimah within the United Arab Emirates (https://hypebeast.com/2024/8/giorgio-armani-ras-al-khaimah-branded-residences-announcement).

“This article has been updated to reflect that sales have launched at the Armani/Casa Residences Pompano Beach project.”
