IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chairman Reece Murtagh, along with TCU/IAM Vice-President Nick Peluso, visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the passage of the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). The bill was introduced by Representatives Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio).

During their visit, Murtagh and Peluso joined legislative staff from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) to thank the bill’s sponsors and discuss strategies to move the legislation forward before the next tax season.

The proposed legislation seeks to expand the current overtime tax exemption. If passed, it would extend overtime tax relief to airline, rail, and other workers who are exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), granting them the same benefit that many other American workers already receive.

“Tell Congress: Railroad and Airline Workers Deserve an Overtime Tax Deduction Too!” urges a statement from those supporting the bill.
