IAM District 19 has reached a tentative agreement with Union Pacific Railroad, affecting about 1,300 freight rail workers. The deal comes after negotiations focused on issues such as pay, vacation, and healthcare.
Reece Murtagh, President and Directing General Chair of IAM District 19, said, “Our membership asked us to stand strong for a contract that includes no takeaways and makes improvements to pay, vacation and healthcare – and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered. We strongly recommend acceptance of this agreement.”
Josh Hartford, Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Rail Division, added, “District 19 continues to stand strong for industry-leading contracts. Together, we are remaking this industry and giving every rail worker the respect they’ve earned.”
Members affected by the tentative agreement will receive further details soon. An electronic ratification vote is scheduled between Monday, August 25 and Friday, August 29, 2025.
