Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Executive Council and delegates convened in Savannah, Georgia, to address several issues including political engagement, the recent government shutdown, and strategies for mobilizing union voters in advance of the 2026 midterm elections.

The meeting focused on the need for increased political involvement among union members in Georgia. Discussions highlighted the significance of union voter turnout and the potential impact on state and national elections.

Later in the week, IAM International President Bryant delivered a keynote address at the Georgia State AFL-CIO convention. His remarks emphasized the role of unions in shaping political outcomes and supporting workers’ interests.
