IAM Local 2198 Young Workers Committee organized its first Dora Cervantes Bowling Fundraiser to support Guide Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines (GDA/TLC). The event brought together members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), their families, and local supporters.

The fundraiser was held in recognition of IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes for her dedication to GDA/TLC and her role in encouraging new union leaders. “It’s deeply moving to see young members take the initiative to give back in such a meaningful way,” said Cervantes. “This charity has always represented compassion and purpose, and our IAM family continues to make sure that mission thrives.”

Funds raised at the event will go directly to GDA/TLC, which provides service dogs at no cost to veterans, people who are blind or visually impaired, and children with autism.

Julie Frietchen, IAM Women’s and Young Workers Director, commented on the involvement of younger union members: “Our young workers are showing what the future of this union looks like: strong, compassionate, and community-minded. They’re carrying forward the IAM’s legacy of service and solidarity while creating their own path of leadership.”

The committee plans to hold the bowling fundraiser annually to continue supporting GDA/TLC’s work.
