IAM Union holds charity week in Las Vegas to support service dog program

IAM Union members and supporters of Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC) convened in Las Vegas for a charity event supporting the organization’s mission. The gathering included various fundraising activities such as a sporting clay shoot, race car driving, ax throwing, golf, and a gala. These efforts aim to provide service dogs to individuals who are blind or living with PTSD and autism.

IAM International President Brian Bryant thanked participants and sponsors, particularly IAM Union members from different territories, for their contributions. “IAM International President Brian Bryant expressed his gratitude, along with the entire IAM Executive Council, for the large turnout of participants and sponsors, particularly members of the IAM Union from different territories, for their fundraising efforts.”

The event culminated in a baseball-themed gala dinner attended by more than 1,000 supporters. The “Gift of Sight” awards were presented to David Sullivan, IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President; Arthur Maratea, TCU/IAM National President; and Southwest Airlines.

Several speakers addressed the audience about the role service dogs play in improving recipients’ lives. A Canadian military veteran shared his personal experience with his PTSD service dog named Oakley.
