The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union) participated in the annual pension symposium organized by the Alliance for Retired Americans. The event, led by retired IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Robert Roach, Jr., focused on raising awareness about political challenges facing Social Security and retirement plans that support older Americans, including many members of the IAM Union.
During the symposium, participants discussed ongoing efforts to defend earned benefits for retirees. The Alliance for Retired Americans highlighted concerns over legislative actions that could impact retirement security. According to organizers, these issues are particularly important to union members who rely on such programs after their careers.
Robert Roach, Jr. addressed attendees regarding threats to existing retirement systems. “The gathering called attention to the political assault on Social Security and retirement plans that assist older Americans, many of whom are IAM Union members,” he said.
Those interested in supporting efforts to protect retirement plans were encouraged to get involved through resources provided at RetiredAmericans.org.
