Lenox Hill Hospital has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of the 50 best hospitals in the United States for 2026. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Lenox Hill has received this distinction, making it the only hospital in New York City to achieve this honor from 2022 through 2026. The recognition places Lenox Hill among the top one percent of hospitals nationwide for clinical excellence and patient outcomes.
Daniel Baker, MD, MBA, president of Lenox Hill Hospital, stated: “Lenox Hill’s clinicians and staff share an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our patients, and this Healthgrades recognition reflects the consistency and quality of care delivered across the hospital. It also underscores our ongoing commitment on advancing quality, safety and outcomes for the communities we serve.”
Healthgrades determines its annual rankings through a detailed analysis of risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across more than 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals across the country. Their findings show significant differences in patient outcomes between top-performing hospitals and others. According to Healthgrades, if all hospitals had matched the performance level of America’s 50 Best Hospitals during their study period from 2022 to 2024, over 209,000 lives could have been saved.
In addition to its overall ranking, Lenox Hill earned several specialty recognitions from Healthgrades for excellence in cardiology, cardiac surgery, gastroenterology, and outpatient orthopedic services—placing it among the top ten percent nationally in these areas. U.S. News & World Report also ranked Lenox Hill as the fifth-best hospital in New York State (tied with Northwell’s North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital) and included it among the nation’s top 50 hospitals in six specialties. Furthermore, Lenox Hill received a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services based on strong performance in key areas such as reduced mortality and readmissions, patient safety, enhanced patient experience, and timely care.
