The Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) announced on May 6 the promotion of three team members who will help advance its statewide talent development efforts. The organization said these individuals will play important roles in expanding the Manufacturers Talent Institute, which connects training and industry through career exploration, pre-apprenticeship, and Registered Apprenticeship programs.
According to MACNY, these promotions demonstrate a commitment to developing internal talent and scaling workforce solutions that aim to build a skilled workforce, create clear career pathways, strengthen manufacturing competitiveness, and drive economic growth across New York State.
Colleen Blagg has been promoted to Director of Pre-Apprenticeship at MACNY. In her new role, she will oversee strategy and execution for pre-apprenticeship programs such as Advance 2 Apprenticeship and Real Life Rosies. She is expected to work with employers, educational institutions, and community organizations while focusing on growing participant engagement and expanding access to high-quality talent pipelines.
Samantha Wessing has been named Senior Workforce Development Specialist. Her expanded responsibilities include serving the Mohawk Valley region by leading apprenticeship programming efforts and employer training initiatives related to Registered Apprenticeship Programs. She will also collaborate with stakeholders to develop pathways for youth into apprenticeship opportunities.
Amanda Rice has been promoted to Director of Workforce Operations. She will lead research and application efforts for new grant opportunities while working closely with the Finance Team on optimizing grant funding use. Her role also includes overseeing operational initiatives such as data tracking systems that support program effectiveness.
“Colleen, Samantha, and Amanda each exemplify the dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit that drive MACNY’s mission forward. These well-deserved promotions reflect not only their individual accomplishments but also their growing impact on our talent development efforts and overall organizational success. As we continue to expand and strengthen our programs across the state, they will play a vital role in driving innovation, deepening partnerships, and delivering results that support the long-term growth and competitiveness of our regional workforce,” said Randy Wolken, President and CEO of MACNY.
