MAHLE, an international automotive parts supplier, will expand its facility in Lockport, Niagara County. The $6.8 million project is expected to create 11 new jobs and retain 226 positions at the site. The expansion includes relocating a Research & Testing Center from Michigan to the Lockport location at 350 Upper Mountain Road.

Empire State Development (ESD) announced its support for the project through up to $1.7 million in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits tied to job creation targets.

Hope Knight, President, CEO & Commissioner of Empire State Development, stated: “MAHLE, a community-dedicated company doing business across the globe, is one of the top performers of Western New York’s manufacturing economy. With a highly skilled workforce and plans for adding a new research and testing facility, the company is in an excellent position to create more jobs and products, and to grow the regional economy.”

The new center will provide advanced testing capabilities for thermal management products used in vehicles. MAHLE’s investment aims to enhance performance, safety, durability, and innovation standards for vehicle components produced at the site.

Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, MAHLE employs over 67,000 people worldwide. Its components are found in about half of all vehicles globally.

Stefan Land, Vice President Thermal and Fluid Systems at MAHLE North America, said: “We sincerely appreciate the strong support from state and local officials. Their partnership plays a vital role in enabling our growth and strengthening our long-term commitment to the region.”

Empire State Development serves as New York’s main economic development agency by supporting business growth through financial assistance programs such as loans, grants, and tax credits. The agency also manages regional economic development councils across New York State (www.regionalcouncils.ny.gov) and oversees initiatives like “I LOVE NY” (www.esd.ny.gov).
