Nancy Neff, a 1972 graduate of Stony Brook University, has established an endowed fund to support the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Honors Program at her alma mater. Neff has previously contributed to the university’s mathematics and physics departments over the past decade.
Neff, who mentors colleagues and clients through her consulting business, said she was drawn to WISE because of its focus on mentorship. “I love that they have a huge mentorship program,” Neff said. “I think mentorship is so valuable because it’s something I didn’t have early in my career, being a female in a traditionally male-dominated field.”
The Nancy L. Neff Endowed Fund will provide general support for WISE, which is an honors program for undergraduates pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The fund aims to back student activities including the mentorship program, networking events, workshops and invited speakers.
“These students are critical thinkers. They are smart and productive. They are our future leaders,” Neff said. “I’m thrilled to be a small part of their success and the evolution of WISE.”
