New York DEC climate justice group to meet virtually on November 4

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced that its Climate Justice Working Group (CJWG) will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. The CJWG is responsible for establishing criteria to identify disadvantaged communities for the purposes of reducing co-pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, preparing regulatory impact statements, and guiding investment allocation in accordance with the Climate Act.

According to the DEC, “The CJWG establishes criteria for identifying disadvantaged communities (DACs) for the purposes of co-pollutant reductions, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, regulatory impact statements, and the allocation of investments pursuant to the Climate Act.”

The upcoming session will be non-voting and non-deliberative. It will include an update on the Community Air Monitoring Initiative. The public is invited to listen via webcast, with pre-registration encouraged through a provided WebEx link.
