NYSUT, the New York State United Teachers union, has announced its endorsement of Michael Cashman for the Assembly seat in District 115. The endorsement comes ahead of a special election scheduled for November 4, 2025.

NYSUT President Melinda Person issued a statement supporting Cashman’s candidacy. “Michael Cashman has always stood shoulder to shoulder with working people, and we’re proud to stand with him now. As a former member of United University Professions and a lifelong advocate for public service, Michael understands what strong unions, great public schools, and vibrant communities mean for the North Country. He’s been a partner in our fight for fairness in both word and action, from strengthening Tier 6 to protecting the dignity of work. NYSUT is proud to endorse Michael Cashman for Assembly because we know he’ll bring to Albany the same integrity, empathy, and energy he’s shown throughout his career.”

The announcement highlights Cashman’s background in public service and his previous membership in United University Professions.

The special election will determine who will represent the North Country’s Assembly District 115.
