The PSEG Foundation has announced $1.5 million in grants to over 25 community organizations in New Jersey and Long Island, with $100,000 allocated to Island Harvest Food Bank. The funding is part of the Community Relief Initiative, which aims to support households experiencing economic hardship by strengthening nonprofit organizations and maintaining essential services such as food assistance.
David Lyons, Interim President and COO of PSEG Long Island, commented on the ongoing partnership: “PSEG Long Island is proud to have partnered with Island Harvest for years to collect, sort and distribute meals to our neighbors suffering from food insecurity — one of many key partnerships that reflect our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work. We have seen firsthand the good work Island Harvest has done, and we are thrilled that the PSEG Foundation is ensuring that even more good can be done through this $100,000 grant.”

PSEG Long Island has worked with various partners across its service area through programs like Power to Feed Long Island. In collaboration with Stop & Shop and Island Harvest over five years nearly 153,000 meals were collected via summer food drives; in 2025 alone more than 14,000 pounds of food were gathered.
In response to delays in state heating assistance due to a federal government shutdown earlier this year, PSEG Long Island organized three community events connecting over 400 customers with financial help from different sources. Many attendees enrolled in its Household Assistance Program which offers eligible households up to $78 monthly discounts on bills. The company also supports veterans through Stand Down events held alongside nonprofits and county governments in Suffolk and Nassau counties as well as Hicksville’s new Veterans Warm Up event; more than 1,000 veterans attended so far this year.
Through its Senior Connections program launched recently across libraries and community centers throughout Long Island and the Rockaways subject-matter experts provide information about storm preparation scam prevention electric safety energy efficiency and available financial aid.
