The New York State Department of Public Service has announced that the Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) will hold an in-person public comment hearing regarding the proposed Flat Creek Solar NY, LLC project. The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department in Canajoharie, Montgomery County.
Flat Creek Solar NY, LLC has applied to build a 300-megawatt solar facility in the towns of Root and Canajoharie. The application was filed with ORES on September 6, 2024. A notice indicating the application was complete was issued on April 7, 2025. Draft permit conditions were published by ORES on June 6, 2025. All interested parties—including individuals, organizations, corporations, or government agencies—are invited to attend and provide comments about the application and draft permit conditions. Oral comments may be limited to three minutes per person to allow all attendees an opportunity to speak. Both oral and written comments will be given equal consideration as part of the administrative record.
The hearing venue is accessible for people with mobility impairments. Those needing special accommodations are advised to contact the Department of Public Service’s Human Resource Management Office at (518) 473-9463 as soon as possible. Written comments must be submitted by Friday, August 22, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., either through posting on DPS’s Document and Matter Management system via https://dps.ny.gov/ores (by selecting “Permit Applications,” then Project Permit Application Number 23-02992), by email to [email protected], or by mail addressed to Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission, Empire State Plaza, P-1 South, J Dock, Albany, NY 12242.
All written submissions received before the deadline will be considered equally alongside oral statements from the public hearing. Written comments will also be publicly posted online; ORES reserves rights concerning duplicate submissions or inappropriate content.
