Empire State Development (ESD) and SharkNinja held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of SharkNinja’s first New York City office. The new Creative Design Hub is located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District at 41 Madison Avenue and covers over 14,000 square feet. This expansion is expected to create more than 45 jobs in areas such as industrial design, marketing, and creative functions.

SharkNinja received support for this project through up to $920,000 in performance-based tax credits from the Excelsior Jobs Program administered by Empire State Development.

Hope Knight, President, CEO and Commissioner of Empire State Development, stated: “Empire State Development is thrilled to welcome SharkNinja to New York City. The company’s new Creative Design Hub builds on New York’s deep tradition of innovation and creativity, while adding momentum to one of the most dynamic design and technology markets in the world. SharkNinja’s decision to grow here underscores how New York’s talent, energy, and opportunity continue to attract global leaders across industries.”

Mark Barrocas, CEO of SharkNinja, said: “Today marks an exciting milestone in SharkNinja’s journey – a moment that reflects both our extraordinary growth and our limitless ambition. Our New York office represents the momentum of a company that’s always looking ahead. It’s where creativity, collaboration, and innovation come together to power what’s next. Every step of our journey has been driven by a deep focus on the consumer and a commitment to positively impacting their lives. This milestone brings that spirit to life as we write the next chapter of SharkNinja’s growth story, here in New York, and around the world.”

Andrew Kimball, President & CEO of NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), commented: “Today’s ribbon cutting marks the official start to SharkNinja’s New York City chapter, a move that will bring jobs, creativity, and innovation to the city. Through guiding the site selection process and facilitating ecosystem connections, we were thrilled to play a role in SharkNinja’s decision to choose NYC, and we look forward to working with SharkNinja as it develops roots in Manhattan’s iconic Flatiron District.”

The facility includes specialized design equipment along with collaborative workspaces and an advanced product testing laboratory. Teams based at this location will focus on research activities as well as design development for both the company’s main brands—Shark and Ninja.

SharkNinja has already hired several employees locally for roles including industrial designers plus creative and marketing professionals.

The Flatiron District hub situates SharkNinja within an area known historically for home furnishings design while connecting it with emerging trends in consumer product innovation.

Founded in 1994, SharkNinja operates globally with over 3,600 employees. Its two major brands—Shark (known for vacuum cleaners and beauty tools) and Ninja (kitchen appliances)—contribute products sold worldwide through various retail channels.

Empire State Development serves as New York’s primary economic development agency overseeing regional councils throughout all ten state regions while supporting business growth initiatives across sectors such as clean energy manufacturing.
