Steve Maloney has returned to the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) as Director of Training after spending a decade in human resources executive positions. Maloney previously led MACNY’s training department for eight years before leaving in 2015.

Reflecting on his recent transition, Maloney stated, “Fortunately, my purpose and career goals aligned with MACNY’s direction at the perfect time, and I am back home!”

Since rejoining MACNY, Maloney has been involved in training and coaching sessions throughout the summer and has reconnected with colleagues across the manufacturing sector. He noted that there is significant potential for growth within MACNY’s programs and services.

Maloney shared his experience participating in John Maxwell’s leadership conference this past March, where he completed certification as a John Maxwell Trainer, Speaker, and Coach prior to starting his new role at MACNY. He also credited the Live2Lead retreat hosted by MACNY in November 2024 as a turning point that helped him adopt a mindset focused on growth.

At the retreat, Maloney heard from Chaunte Lowe, a world champion high jumper and breast cancer survivor. Her story prompted him to focus on resilience and an abundance mindset during a challenging period marked by professional setbacks and family health concerns.

He summarized several key lessons from this experience:

– Lead yourself
– Set new goals beyond current challenges
– Protect against self-doubt
– Commit to continuous learning
– Prioritize health and self-care
– Build daily resilience
– Maintain positive self-talk

“When you change your thoughts, you change your reactions!” Maloney emphasized.

Maloney indicated he will share more about his personal journey with the Abundance Cycle in two weeks. He invited others to contact him via email to discuss their own experiences with shifting mindsets.
