Donations of small household appliances are being requested for an upcoming event at Stony Brook University called Appliance Autopsy. The event, part of CommUniversity Day, will allow participants to take apart items such as toasters, laptops, and hair dryers to explore how they work.
The Appliance Autopsy is organized by University and Hospital Community Relations and will take place in the Tech and Discovery Neighborhood during CommUniversity Day. Tools including hammers, goggles, and screwdrivers will be provided for attendees who want to participate in dismantling the appliances.
In addition to the Appliance Autopsy, visitors can engage with “Stump Professor Longtin,” another interactive feature of the event.
CommUniversity Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, from noon to 4 p.m. on the Academic Mall at Stony Brook University. Admission and parking are free. The event is open to everyone.
For more information or details about donating appliances, interested parties can contact communiversityday@stonybrook.edu.
“Appliance Autopsy gives people the chance to take a peek inside small appliances like toasters, laptops, hair dryers and more. We’ll supply the hammers, goggles and screwdrivers, you supply the curiosity!”
