Stony Brook Southampton is set to host an event focused on drone technology and its impact on the workforce. The event, called “Careers of Tomorrow: Discover How Drone Technology is Shaping the Future of Work,” will take place on Saturday, October 18, from 11 am to 2 pm. It is organized in collaboration with Stony Brook University’s Office for Research and Innovation, the New York Power Authority (NYPA), and Drone Cadets.

The event aims to introduce attendees to developments in drone technology and how it applies across various industries. Activities will include demonstrations on piloting drones, aerial imaging, and programming. Experts will also be available to discuss educational paths and training opportunities within this field.

Organizers highlight that the use of drones is opening up new career options for students, individuals considering a change in profession, and those looking to develop new skills. Drones are increasingly used in sectors such as infrastructure, clean energy, public safety, and environmental monitoring.

Participation in the event is free but registration is encouraged. Refreshments will be provided during the program.

“Attendees will learn how drones are creating new possibilities for students, career changers, and professionals seeking to upskill in areas ranging from infrastructure and clean energy to public safety and environmental monitoring.”
