Stony Brook University alumni gathered in New York City on December 5 for a holiday celebration hosted by the university’s Alumni Association. The event, held at Bar Torino at Hudson Yards, brought together graduates from various years to reconnect and strengthen their ties with each other and the institution.
The gathering provided an opportunity for attendees to reflect on their experiences at Stony Brook and discuss the impact those experiences have had on their personal and professional lives. Stony Brook University President Andrea Goldsmith attended the event and shared her perspective on the importance of such gatherings.
“I am always inspired and filled with pride by my interactions with our alumni as they share with me reflections of their time at Stony Brook and the transformative impact it had on their personal and professional lives,” said Goldsmith. “It was especially fulfilling to see so many of our alumni gathered in New York City, where we have a tremendous opportunity to extend the depth and breadth of our impact.”
Goldsmith also highlighted the role alumni play in supporting the university’s mission. “Not only do our alumni represent the extraordinary benefits of a Stony Brook education, but they are also our very best ambassadors for sharing our story, extending our reach and helping Stony Brook achieve its full potential,” she continued. “It was uplifting to see so many generations of Seawolves turn out for the event, held in a truly magical setting. I look forward to engaging our alumni through such events to help craft our shared vision for the future of our great university.”
The event welcomed not only alumni but also friends living or working in New York City’s five boroughs. Among those present were David Wrobel, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Andrew Singer, Dean of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
