The University Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Staller Center for the Arts on November 11. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm on the Main Stage and will be conducted by Susan Deaver.
The program includes works by Arturo Márquez, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Franz Schubert. Specifically, the orchestra will perform Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Op. 107, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C major, also known as “The Great.”
Cellist Eric Ness, a Long Island native, will be featured as soloist. Ness, who won the Undergraduate Concerto Competition, completed a bachelor of science degree at Stony Brook University in mathematics and music in 2025. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science at UC San Diego.
Tickets for the concert are priced at $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors aged 62 and over, and $5 for students. They can be purchased online at stallercenter.com or in person at the Staller Box Office.
The University Orchestra consists of 70 undergraduate students from Stony Brook University. Additional information is available through the Department of Music or on the university’s website.
