Stony Brook University will host its annual CommUniversity Day on Saturday, September 27, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will take place on the Academic Mall, with an indoor rain plan set for the Stony Brook Arena.

The festival will include a range of activities and events designed for both university members and visitors from surrounding communities. The program features the second annual LEGO competition, where participants will build creations that reflect their vision of community. The event will end with the Duck Race at 3:30 p.m.

Other scheduled activities include Appliance Autopsy, an ice cream social, line dancing, chair yoga, a tree tour, and musical performances by Music and Medicine and The Stony Brook High C’s. President Andrea Goldsmith is set to address attendees from the main stage.

CommUniversity Day organizes its offerings into several themed “neighborhoods”: Arts, Community, Find Out in 15, Food, Health, Safety, Tech and Discovery, and Traditions. In the Health neighborhood, wellness resources such as health information and screenings will be available. Additional activities in this area include the Teddy Bear Clinic and Story Time with the Tooth Fairy.

Food options at the event will include food trucks and products from Stony Brook’s Food Business Incubator at Calverton. All campus dining locations are expected to be open during the event.

Last year’s CommUniversity Day drew approximately 2,000 attendees from both within and outside the university community. Over 100 individuals, clubs, departments from Stony Brook University and Medicine, as well as nonprofit partners participated in last year’s event.

“President Andrea Goldsmith will address the attendees from the main stage.”
