The U.S. Census Bureau has released the 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS), offering updated information on business activity in the United States. The data include figures on job creation and destruction, as well as statistics on establishment births and deaths, and firm startups and shutdowns. These measures are provided for the overall economy and broken down by establishment and firm characteristics.

The BDS is an annual series that now covers data from 1978 through 2023. Users can access the new statistics through several platforms, including the main BDS website, the Census API, and BDS Explorer. The BDS Explorer tool allows users to view the entire dataset using line charts, bar charts, thematic maps, and an interactive dashboard for constructing tables and visual comparisons of business dynamics.

For additional details or to explore the data further, interested parties are encouraged to visit both BDS and BDS Explorer.
