The Winpisinger Center will launch an Online Steward Training program starting October 1, aiming to make union education more accessible for new shop stewards who are unable to attend in-person sessions. The initiative follows the center’s previous online training efforts.

“This initiative is another step forward in expanding our members’ access to quality union education, no matter where they live or work,” said Winpisinger Center Director Mary McHugh.

The training is available to all members in good standing who serve as stewards. The program runs over three consecutive weeks, with each session lasting two hours and covering two topics. To accommodate different schedules, sessions are offered three times per week.

The first week will address the role of the steward and steward rights and responsibilities, with sessions on October 1, 2, and 4. The second week will focus on grievances and investigations, scheduled for October 8, 9, and 11. The third week covers just cause and discipline cases as well as contract cases and past practice, taking place on October 15, 16, and 18.

Members interested in participating can self-register for the Online Steward Training through the provided link or contact the Winpisinger Center for more information.
